Description
The peptide TGHGARTSTEPTTDY corresponds to amino acids 768–782 of the Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) envelope glycoprotein GP350/GP340, encoded by the BLLF1 gene (UniProt ID: P03200). This linear epitope (Epitope ID 419381) has been investigated for immune reactivity and has been experimentally validated in both a T cell assay and a MHC class II ligand assay, with reported HLA-DR3 restriction.
Envelope glycoprotein GP350/GP340
GP350/GP340 is one of the most abundant glycoproteins in the EBV envelope and plays a central role during viral attachment to B lymphocytes. Through molecular mimicry of complement components, GP350/GP340 binds to complement receptors CR1 (CD35) and CR2 (CD21) on the B cell surface, initiating virus attachment and subsequent endocytosis. The protein exists in multiple isoforms generated by alternative splicing, with GP350 representing the full-length form and GP340 corresponding to a truncated variant that retains the same biological function.
