Description

A targeted CD4+ T-cell helper epitope for specialized HLA-DR profiling and complementary panel design.

The Tetanus Toxin 1273–1284 peptide (GQIGNDPNRDIL, epitope ID: 21889), designated in literature as the P4 helper epitope, is a validated CD4+ T-cell target derived from the heavy chain of Clostridium tetani neurotoxin (UniProt: P04958).

While the helper epitopes P2 (TT 830–843) and P30 (TT 947–967) offer broad, population-wide coverage, p4 serves as a valuable secondary helper epitope. Tested in functional T-cell assays and documented in several peer-reviewed publications, it provides a specialized reference target for multi-epitope screening panels and fine-mapping vaccine responses.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Complementary Helper Target: Designed as a secondary recall antigen to expand coverage alongside major immunodominant controls (P2 and P30) in comprehensive CD4+ T-cell panels.
  • MHC Class II Recognition: Characterized as an HLA Class II-restricted CD4+ helper T-cell epitope evaluated across functional recall assays.
  • Reliable Panel Component: Acts as a specialized control in human peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) assays (ELISpot, Fluorospot, ICS) to evaluate functional cytokine release (IFN-gamma, IL-2).
  • High Chemical Quality: peptides&elephants under strict quality control standards to guarantee high batch-to-batch reproducibility, exceptional solubility, and reliable assay performance.

Applications

  • Multi-Epitope Recall Panels: Complements primary Tetanus Toxoid epitopes in PBMC screening arrays to increase overall panel depth.
  • Fine-Mapping & Epitope Deconvolution: Serves as a reference tool for dissecting granular CD4+ T-cell receptor (TCR) specificities.
  • Conjugate Vaccine Engineering: Incorporated into multi-epitope constructs to supply additional CD4+ helper T-cell signals.
