Description

The nonamer YPHFMPTNL is an immunodominant T-cell epitope for presentation on H-2Ld MHC class I molecules. The peptide serves as a substrate for the 20S proteasome both with and without activation by 11S activator complexes. The degradation products may be separated by reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatography and subsequently identified by mass spectrometry. The nature and abundance of the fragments produced will depend upon the nature of the 20S proteasome being studied and the extent of its activation. This peptide is processed from the immediate early protein pp89 of mouse cytomegalovirus (CMV). It is presented to CD8+ T lymphocytes by the H-2 Ld molecule. Infection of mice with murine CMV leads to CD8 cell responses to this immunodominant epitope. This peptide was employed in vaccines development. YPHFMPTNL is a linear peptidic epitope (epitope ID75317) studied as part of Immediate-early protein 1 from Murid betaherpesvirus 1 (Murine cytomegalovirus). This epitope has been studied for immune reactivity, tested in T cell assays and MHC ligand assays.
